Siberian
The Siberian’s head is wedge-shaped with soft contours, topped by medium to large tufted ears. Their nearly round eyes range from shades of green to gold to copper, though white Siberians or those with white markings or patches may have blue eyes or eyes of different colors. Strong-boned legs and round, tufted paws support their muscular body and long, thick tail.
ABOUT
Siberian cats are (as their name suggests) native to Siberia, a region of Russia known for long, harsh winters. Their rugged origins are reflected in their long, weatherproof triple coat and strong bodies.
These alert and solidly built cats are somewhat kittenish in personality. This breed is sweet-natured and loves to cuddle. Siberians are totally devoted to their pet parents and generally get along well with children and other pets.

Allergy-friendly: Most cat-allergic people are sensitive to a protein called FelD1, which is found in cats’ fur after they lick themselves. It seems that some cat breeds, including Siberians, produce less FelD1 than other cats.

Diet and Nutrition
Work with your veterinarian to choose the best food for your Siberian cat. Although dry food is convenient, canned food contains fewer carbs and has a lot of extra moisture. Most cats don’t drink enough water, which can affect their overall health, including their kidney health.
Feed measured amounts of food at scheduled times, two to three times a day. Don’t leave food out all day, as this can contribute to an overweight cat.
HEALTH
Siberian Cats are a relatively healthy breed. Like many other breeds, however, they do have a slightly higher risk for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a form of heart disease characterized by an enlarged heart.
FACTS
1. The Siberian Cat appears in Russian fairy tales, folktales and children’s books.
2. Records about the breed weren’t kept until the 1980s, although references to the feline date back to 1,000 A.D. They may even be the ancestors to other longhaired cats, including the Norwegian Forest Cat and Maine Coon.
3. They are sometimes referred to as Siberian Forest Cats or Moscow Longhairs.
4. There are claims Siberians are hypoallergenic, but this hasn’t been scientifically proven.
